Fitting Instructions
Rocket 3 Exhaust Kit
- Remove R/H silencer heat shield ( retained by 2 button head Allen bolts)
- Remove L/H silencer heat shield ( retained by 2 button head Allen bolts)
- To remove both R/H mufflers from bike first remove the rear foot peg assembly and rear foot peg mounting cover (retained by 2 button head Allen bolts and the foot peg bracket). Remove the muffler to bracket bolts from the lower muffler to separate the two mufflers. Then loosen the clamps on both mufflers before removing the mounting bolts from the mufflers and gently sliding them off the cat box.
- To remove the L/H muffler, first remove the rear foot peg assembly and rear foot peg mounting cover (retained by 2 button head Allen bolts and the footpad bracket). Then loosen the clamps on the muffler before removing the mounting bolts from the muffler and gently sliding it off the cat box.
- Remove the Cat box (large steel box structure that houses the Exhaust Catalyzer). It is retained by one fastener on the right hand side and a peg on the left hand side. If this is difficult it may be necessary to slacken the exhaust header to allow the header to move.
- Install the Thunderbike collector in place of the standard cat box using the larger O.D gasket supplied do not tighten the clamp fully at this point.
- Install the 2 right hand mufflers upper first then the lower using the gaskets supplied (upper muffler is attached using the foot peg bracket and a hex bolt). Attach the lower pipe by first sliding over the collector then bolting to the upper muffler. Again do not tighten the bolts and clamps at this point.
- If you have the 3 pipe system loosely fit the left hand muffler at this point note this muffler does not use a gasket.
- With all mufflers loosely fitted make sure that the heat shield mounts line up and all the bolt holes line up. Once you have checked this tighten all muffler clamps and all muffler mounting bolts.
- Refit chrome covers to foot peg assemblies and mufflers then start engine and ensure that bike is running smoothly and exhaust joints are sealing.
